It’s NOT okay that I am NOT okay! - - Sense of UNDERSTANDING(Part 2)

In years of pursuit for our self-improvement or personal development, I should know the reason of my episode of depression right? WRONG

From 2017, Abbey and I keep thinking and digging from time to time but we always faced the same roadblock. Aspects that were presented do not make sense what could be the main cause of that deep and pitless darkness.

In 2021, I volunteered to be the data analyst of Peak Resonance, a coaching company for personal, career, relationship or I just say life development as a whole. In return for my researches they offered free sessions with the coaches. But I pride myself that I know I do not need a coach because I know myself more than anyone else and I have Abbey to check on me too. RIGHT? Hmmm, well AGAIN IT IS WRONG!

One casual day, while Jovan (one of Peak Resonance founder) is talking about our research material, the subject of my 2017 loneliness was brought up. He asked only three questions and from that time the burden on looking for its cause was lifted off from my shoulder and Abbey’s.

Now I know why executives, why ranking officials, why people are turning to licensed coaches for answers..for guidance..for deeper self connections. Indeed they were trained to ask questions for you to befriend and master your trigger points, they have tools that explain your characters and emotions, they will mold you in a person that you want to be.

I am truly forever grateful with Jovan and I know ALMIGHTY moved because it is time for me to know the reason of my depression and for me to avoid those trigger points specially in this UNCERTAIN COVID times.

Now I am absolutely rooting for this kind of interference. Coaching will save you time in figuring things out and will definitely help you to ease up everything in your subconscious mind.

Completed Project SPARTA's Data Analyst Pathway -- Now what?

I recently finished one of the campaigns of Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology Big 21 in 2021.. Project SPARTA.

Project SPARTA is a Philippine initiative in response to APEC’s goal on human development Project DARE (Data Analytics Raising Employment) to produce globally competitive analytics professionals.
Project SPARTA introduced six (6) pathways and after a year I completed and received my certificate as Data Analyst.

Completed Project SPARTA's Data Analyst Pathway -- Now what?

What have I learned? If you will visit my previous blogs you will see that I am enjoying researching, data visualization and presentation.

Since I am a fresh graduate of the pathway, I am now volunteering some of my time to help Peak Resonance in wrangling and analysing their available data, also had done researches and now collecting new data to identify data-driven solutions for the firm.

Will I stop from there? Of course not. I am still eyeing to serve logistics companies. Cargoes, import, export, by sea, by air, by train. My first love. To be finally a LOGISTICS ANALYST.

It’s NOT okay that I am NOT okay! -- Succumbed in a Great Sadness (Part 1)

I am sad. Bakit? Hindi ko alam!

I do not have time to talk to others. Why? Because there’s a voice inside na walang tigil akong sinasabihan na dapat akong maging malungkot, na wala akong karapatan maging masaya.

It is a battle inside. And hanggang ngayon naalala ko ang pain. No! Actually it is not only pain. It is a sorrowful feeling of very deep loneliness na hindi ko alam saan nanggagaling. If you have felt heartbreak, that week of misery is worse than that. It felt like my ownself is tearing me apart. Pinupunit ang puso ko.

I tried to reach out for help from my sister and sister-in-law and they gave me words of wisdom that made me realize better things pero the enemy inside of me is stronger. (D@mn! I am now in a bus writing this and I am crying silently).

Kailan nangyari ito? That was 2017. The feelings still seems fresh everytime I am looking back.

One week I never talked to my husband. I wake up, go to office, go home, eat dinner and sleep. I am cold as damn Antartica. I pity him. Kasi alam ko wala naman sya kasalanan pero nadadamay sya sa nangyayari sa akin. I know I make Abbey sad too pero that time wala akong pakialam sa nararamdaman nya. But he continues to cook for me, arrange my baon and waiting for me to come back.

I am grumpy too sa office kasi ayaw ko nga na may kakausap sa akin. Nakakatitig lang ako lagi sa monitor that time. My friends do not know about it. Ayaw ko nga kasi ng kausap. Talagang si Ate Sol and Ate Precy lang ang sinabihan ko nun. Isang tawag lang. Pero that call seems my enemy became more agitated and pushed me harder to the point na yung mga positive words and insights galing sa mga ate is now turning against me.

I do not have time to pray. The voice insisted I am not worthy to pray. Not worthy of anything good in this Earth and in Heaven.

All I know, one afternoon I decided to stop believing sa mga naririnig ko. That I need to go out of the cocoon of misery. That same day, I send SMS to Abbey for the first time after a week to pick me up from the office.

The best thing my husband did that time was to support me. He kept his silence, never asked questions. Nag-sorry and I thank him for all the understanding.

Is that depression? I do not know. Basta isang araw nagising lang ako and I was succumbed in a great sadness..in darkness.. It is not okay that I am not okay. Kasi hindi lang sarili ko nasasaktan pati mga taong nakapaligid sa akin.

TOPIC: SINGAPORE RACE IN FLATTENING THE CURVE | SP503 Storytelling Using Data

SP503 Storytelling Using Data was the last course released by Project SPARTA PH for Data Analyst Pathway. The course is consisted of 20 videos which you can finish in a day. Weeks 1 to 2 basically recaps what you have learned from previous courses, Week 3 is for how to build/parts of story and Week 4 teaches you how to deliver the story and the capstone.

I spent almost 3 weeks to do the capstone. My topic is about, of course, COVID-19. People are clamouring for health and economic effects but Singapore is looking beyond and already doing measures to mitigate the impact.

I know city governments of Philippines can learn on the steps taken by Singapore to answer this kind of issues during pandemic. And that is the reason why I chose my city, Caloocan, to be my imaginary audience during my storytelling presentation.

I really do hope Caloocan officials will be moved and take action to study what Singapore is already implementing.

Tips on SPARTA’s SP601 Data-Driven Research Fundamentals

6.3.1 The Door-to-Door Caravan Sampling Problem is the capstone for the SPARTA’s SP601 and I am not proud to mention that I spent more than 2 months (yuletide season is my alibi haha) to finish the course and almost 3 weeks in capstone.

After I finished all the lectures and the challenging quizzes, it’s time for capstone. My brain shut down after reading the instructions and seeing the downloaded dataset. I didn’t know where to start. Didn’t know what to do. Haha. But it is fine, just let your brain relax first before going to an all out war Naks!

Why I am writing this? I do not want you to be like me, wasting time glaring at the ceiling while thinking how to slay the capstone.

So let’s dive into it.
1. Download the data. Read and re-read the instructions. The research paper should at least have the following parts:
● Introduction
    o Background
    o Problem Statement
    o Scope and Limitations
● Literature Review
    o Available Research on this
    o Gap Analysis
● Proposed Research Design
o Step by Step Research Design to Solve the Problem
    o Proposed Data Analysis Methodologies
         Quantitative
         Qualitative
● Implementation Plan
● Bibliography

2. Go back to your notes. What is the first lesson? Correct! First lesson is about PROBLEM STATEMENT.
Do not be fooled by introduction or background. Skip it for now and focus on the problem statement. How to formulate it? Read again the dataset. There’s a guide question right? From there you map out a nice research questions for your to solve.
From that too you can form your title too.. (wink-wink)

3. Skip the scope and limitation.

4. Now let’s go on with the literature review. This is where the real grind starts. Haha. Inhale-exhale! Google your research questions, check-out Google scholars using keywords of the problem statement.

Be a member of Academia. Do not forget what we have learned from week 2.
    a. Identify the Research Topic You Want to Explore They should be flexible in their conceptualization of the research problem being investigated They should begin with broad idea and be prepared to narrow it down as they progress
    b. Review the Sources to get an overview of that research topic
    c. Develop a Search Strategy
    d. Conduct the search and select specific articles to review
    e. Obtain titles or full text references of journal articles or book
    f. Read the artices and prepare bibliographic information and notes on each
    g. Analyse the research findings and synthesise.
Check out the integrity of the paper. Read, highlight and comprehend. From there you might see the light in the end of the tunnel. Haha.

5. While reading research you may ask your self that something is missing or further research can be done. Welcome that idea and include on the gap analysis. Remember to cite the papers properly to avoid plagiarism.

6. Go back to week 3 about research design. Here you can indicate the sampling, instruments and analysis method you will use. Where to get data? Data from Philippine Statistics Authority.

7. Implementation Plan. As the term implies, you can incorporate to answer all the capstone guide questions indicated on the downloadable data in this section. Explain how you implement the formula, your graphs or tables.

Data-Driven Research Fundamentals Final Capstone Project The Door-to-Door Caravan Sampling Problem

8. Bibliography. Include all the citations you’ve used.

9. Then we go back on areas we have skipped. Give a background; a summary for what people will learn from your research. Indicate the scope of your study and limitations.

10. And you’re done! Hope you enjoyed the process. ;)

Do not stress yourself too much. If you have questions replay again lessons from Ms. Regine Tejada.
This is my very first time to do a proper research paper. Wala kami nito sa panahon namin. (Napaghahalataan na ang edad haha).
If I can do it. Kayo din. Okay? Good luck classmates.
PS: if you have other tips, comment it to our comment section.

She is Not a PERFECT MOTHER

Dolores Mangila
1949 -2021
We have misunderstandings.. a lot! I can’t count how many times we shouted at each other. Stomping my feet, banging my door, throwing tantrums.

She habitually nags at me! She didn’t permit me to do things that I want to do. Don’t do this, don’t eat that. Don’t say those kinds of words. I am always being unreasonable for her. We constantly fight! She cry. I cry. My question is “Why Nanay doesn’t always understand me?”

When I am married and away from home, I realized Nanay knew me more than myself. She knew when she needed to stop bothering me. She knew when to allow me to go out and with who. She knew what’s best for me. She knew when I can get what I want and together we laughed when I failed.

She is perfect and best mother anyone can have. I am the NOT PERFECT daughter.

11 Things I Wish I Knew Before Boarding World Dream Cruise The Palace Suite

I know that The Palace guests at World Dream’s Cruise to Nowhere will have a different kind of treatment but I really do wish that I’ll know this tips before and while on board the cruise ship.

These are my advises:
1. You can be board the ship as early as 1pm. This is what we’ve learned from our butler. Even you are scheduled for swab testing 4pm, you can go there to get your swab test as early as 1pm and board the ship.

2. Butler’s duties are not what you think of. Don’t expect a "Carson"(Downtown Abbey) butler that you’ve seen in that tv show. Intense marketing but relatively standard concierge.

3. You need to look for your butler IMMEDIATELY! You need to book as fast as you can all the activities, pool, sauna and steam room. Specialty restaurants will be fully booked as early as 5PM before departing. (Experienced that! So frustrating situation).

4. For shows, you didn’t need to book it. Just go ahead and queue at Silk Road restaurant to get the VIP access to the theatre.

5. You can get free one lunch/dinner to a specialty restaurant. You know that right? But if you are not satisfied with the set meal provided you can still dine in at Dream Dining Room (do a reservation) or The Lido (free seating).

6. Choose Deck 17. It is where The Palace Restaurant located. Imagine, just few steps you can access an array of food and drinks up to 2AM.

7. Palace Pool consisted of 1 pool and 4 jacuzzis. It is not crowded but you need to book it. Oh! The scent of chlorine is quite overwhelming.

8. If everything is fully booked. Talked to the Palace concierge to be included in waiting list.

9. Weightlifting is your kind of exercise, do not go for The Palace Gym book the City Life Spa Gym. The Palace guests can take their private elevators from Deck 17 to Deck 15.

10. There are no lockers provided for the slides.

11. You need to complete the rope course before you zipline. If you are afraid of heights and unstable wind condition do not push for this activity. GoPros/jewelries are not allowed. Yes even your wedding band are prohibited.

These tips are for you to take advantage/prevent to avoid frustration or meet a full joy while on board.
Happy Cruising To Nowhere!

ABBEY & WILMA | 10 YEAR VOW RENEWAL | OUR DIY PRIVATE EXCHANGING OF VOWS AT A HOTEL ROOM 2021

In my previous post, you have read how we want our wedding to be simple, intimate and on the budget. Now, on our 10th year we celebrated it privately, just me and Abbey.

How private? We didn’t even tell this to our family and closest to the close friends. Haha. We planned to explore other part of the world but due to the travel restrictions we were pushed to booked a room hotel, bought a ring, shop for clothes and ordered a in-room dining.

We facilitated what are some lacking on our wedding gala (Except for releasing doves) Abbey and I toast a wine and cut a cake. Well in style. Wotttwotttt We have saved funds for the whole 2020 for this event and we have the guilt-free splurging for our 10th year.

Remember, it is not how people think about you and your married life. It is about how you and your spouse communicate and learn to understand and provide each other’s needs and wants.

Yiheeee. Love you my forever Abbey!!

Is your wedding PERFECT? Well, ours is not!

We will be celebrating our 10th year anniversary soon and while watching our video it suddenly hit my mind that our wedding is not perfect.

I hate big gatherings and I am quite thrifty in spending money which is a good combination in arranging an intimate event. Haha! But do you know that we crossed our budget even if we all planned it to be simple as possible? Our budget is only Php100k but I am surprised the expenditure went up to 300k. Whew! Take note that the extra 200k is not from debt.

It seems that it is easy to arrange a wedding but is really not. Many people are involved and for sure many unsolicited ideas will pop up and if you do not want stress you need to let go of some and just focus on the wedding ceremony details.

Watch our wedding video here

Okay so let’s go back to the subject of this blog, why my wedding is not perfect? Well the ceremony which I really focused on what I want to have and not is absolutely superb. Some ceremonies like cake cutting, wine tossing and even releasing of doves were not executed. And the reason? Well, all of the materials are there but it seems the day is too lengthy for me and Abbey and we just want to finish the event for us to start our life as a married couple.

Well, our wedding might not be perfect to the eyes of people but I am proudly to say that our marriage is.
