5 Signs You Should Quit Your Job

Yep! It is time to cut the misery off and quit your job!

Now, on this day counts my 3rd month of sabbatical leave.

Because I am free and open for communication right now, haha, people are sending me congratulatory messages that I have an opportunity to rest for a while. But others just ranted away! Of course, I listen to what they say. And now I am compiling it. This will help you to DECIDE why you should leave your job NOW!

Below are some of the reasons you are burnt out or everyday you ask yourself why you are still staying on that company.
  1. You feel lightheaded every time you're on your way to office.
- You feel the stress welcoming you every time you punch-in. Your blood pressure strikes on top of your head. Aha! You are starting to be physically sick because of the anxiety inside the office.

  1. Your personality transforms automatically when you open the glass door!
- From always smile to always grumpy! You become defensive and a lot of F*** word accommodating your brain and spilling it out from your mouth. Lunch break and 5PM bells, you will come back to your best and original you!

  1. No growth.
-Some people felt stuck because there is no development happening for their skills or knowledge. You should quit now if your department head wants you to sit there and do your job and no plans to have an improvement for you.

  1. Disrespect is all over the room.
-Your boss disrespects you and you give a hell back to him. Your manager do not show empathy on you. Your supervisors always point finger. You do not feel secured and appreciated. Shouting is the "only" communication you know to be heard.

  1. Politics is in all time high!
-Gossiping is your favorite dessert on your tea time and your boss plays favoritism.
Please have respect and dignity to yourself.
Just quit!
Well, that's it! Now it is time for you to think.

2014: On HIS Grace

Me: Why is your face like that?
Colleague: Because I am sad.
Me: Why are you sad?
Colleague: You know, sometimes you will wake up and feel unhappy.
Me: Why?
Colleague: Don't tell me it didn't happened to you before.
Me: It happens to me. But not a lot. And whenever it occurs, I asked my husband to sing. Oh! I'll call my husband, I will ask him to sing for you.

Then she smiled. And every time I see her she always tells me that she's happy and no need to call my hubby. Haha.

*******

This 2014 many hurdles were set on our way. We were tested financially, emotionally and our trust to ALMIGHTY.

Some were the events that can break me and my husband but we chose to cling more to each other and jumped together these hurdles.

--> This year my mother-in-law won her battle with cancer. No more pain, she's in the hands of the LORD.

You can see how wrecked he is inside. He still hopes for her to heal but all the medical facts shows the opposite. "Do you have any regrets that's why you can't let her go", I asked Abbey. He replied back "No".
Then after that he woke up from reality that we need to accept the fact about Mama's case. Abbey flew back and forth to Manila to spend more time with Mama. We Skype-d, call and sms Mama everyday. We want her to feel how much we love her. We always asked her "Mama love mo kami? Hanggang saan? Proud ka ba sa amin?" She will answer back with a snobbish tone. Malamanng nakukulitan na yun sa amin. Haha!

My mother-in-law proved how easy to deal with this infamous disease if you all give all your worries to HIM.

--> My father hit by a mild stroke and this made our family bond stronger. Every family member had done their part. My sister and Kuya Laleng gave their time to be with father while he is on ICU and Kuya Ric took care of the medical bill through the help of Philhealth. Me? I flew back home to clean my dad's 4-storey house. Haha! Mission accomplished.

--> ALMIGHTY's grace shone on us again when the lymphoma of my sister-in-law was detected in an early stage. HE again proved that HE owns the richness in this world. From first session up to the eighth, Ate Rizbeth's chemotherapy was finished. THE ALMIGHTY provided it with no hesitation.
Blessings poured to Ate Riz. From siblings, relatives, churchmates, friends, government organizations and even private companies helped financially. "Kahit kailan ang DIOS ko ay hindi nagkulang".

Despite of her condition, Abbey and I got a good chance to spend with Ate Rizbeth and her family here in Singapore not only once but twice!!! :)

--> My grandmother passed away. I am happy. All sufferings were done and she left wonderful memories for me to reminisce.

The day that I went to visit her and she asked if she can have my earrings. When I handed the pair of gold to her she eyed for my ring. I refused to give it to her. Why? "Lola, wedding ring po namin ito ni Abbey." She looked to my husband and gave a hilarious laugh. Haha! Everytime I phoned Lola, she always say a simple "Salamat sa lahat. Buti ka pa di mo ako nalilimutan". (Shocks I wanna cry).

I do not regret anything as I know I have done and gave the best I could as her granddaughter. And I know she is proud of me and my husband.

Happiness is a choice as also your sadness. You can't totally avoid problems to come your way but you can choose the problem to be a blessing rather an obstacle.

Everything happens for a reason and I hope this post help you to see more light than darkness in every challenge we encountered.

Choose to be happy.

I Love SMRT (Singapore's MRT System)

If you can see the  situation of citizens of other countries when riding their trains you will surely give thanks to Singapore government and SMRT for the service they are doing for the public. But good performance is not enough for this people behind SMRT, they are aiming for excellence that is why even LTA and NUS entered the scene in studying how to de-congest the trains on peak hours.

NUS announced a behavioral study on public who uses mrt  in their way to work. And I am a so lucky registrant to be picked as a participant. So how this does work?
1. $15 voucher or ezlink top-up. It seems that this is a welcome treat for participants
2. $40 -- and everytime you tap-out from mrt at 8:15 a 20cents will be deducted to that.
3. $25 full participation incentive after the study.

Why I chose to join? Well, I want to go to office 30 minutes earlier to increase more my points on my clients' grading system. Yes! My clients have DLV that I need to key-in as early as possible to get a high grade. Second to lessen the stress for me; less people in the train, lesser stress. A fantastic way for me to discipline myself. Third to help in decongesting the train and lastly to avail the 2 privileges that was promoted by LTA (Travel Early, Travel Free & INSINC).

Now it ends, I only failed once and was deducted a 20cents on my $40. For sure I will continue what I have begin. It is more refreshing and more fulfilling to travel early in the morning.

Dolly Wink: Guinness World Record "Most Number of People Applying False Eyelashes!" Event

Tanjoubi omedetou gozaimasu Dolly Wink!

In celebrating Dolly Wink’s 5th year anniversary in business of beautifying the girls around the globe, they go for an extra mile to get it more memorable... They were there to break a Guinness World Record in Most People Applying False Eyelashes.

The invitation spread like a virus and most of the bloggers get to know about this event. I will confess I want to help Dolly Wink to grab the new record; this is for saying my thanks to them for great eyelashes and for all the events they held for the bloggers like me. Dolly Wink gave back by donating also at Breast Cancer Foundation by purchasing a pink ribbon for every registrant and they will donate a $2 for every selected Dolly Wink product that will be sold in 50 Watson’s branches island wide.

Let’s go and discuss this great experience. Well, this is my first time to participate in a World Guinness Book of Records. One of my mom/blogger-friend told me that I can slashed-out one item off my bucket list, good point right?! This event was held at Scape The Ground Theatre. They have the policy “once in, never out” that even an urgent thing to go to washroom is not an excuse.

We went in and about 30 minutes the program started. I was shocked that in front of the stage there is a boy participating in putting fake eyelashes. Well he is not the only one, I think there were also 3 more boys on the floor doing the same thing. Aren’t they cute? Haha!

There was a practice session and on first attempt I got it right but on actual and for the Guinness World Record, I got giddy and nervous and sought for assistance. Haha! When I saw the lashes on me, my colleague told me that they were really nice on my eyes. Haha! After Ms Fortuna confirmed all the participants, she handed the plaque to the President of the Dolly Wink. Champagne popped and the party confetti were all over the place.

Thanks Dolly Wink for this great celebration and the goodie bag.

My Insanely Awesome Mother-in-Law

Its very hard to please everbody... most specially mothers-in-law. If you will search the internet about MIL, you will see how many rants the daughters-in-law to their second mothers. And ang tanging bilin sa akin ng nanay ko ay ibuhos ko na sa kanya ang kamalditahan ko at wag sa magiging byenan ko.  My mom felt the pure love of her parents-in-law to her and vice-versa and of course I want to be like that on my byenan.

When I met Mrs. Lapuz, I felt how she loves Abbey. She always asked back then if I really love her son. She frankly told me that my looks were deceiving, and she don't like me because I look so snob.

First meeting, she cried in front of me and I listened to tales. In one meeting, Tita Sweet got my attention, my care and my heart. I told to myself, this is the mother-in-law I want to be with for the rest of my life.

Well, I call her "Sweet", why? Should I further explain it to you? For almost 5 years of relationship with Abbey I never saw her shout in anger, she always hugs me when I go to their home as if I was gone for years, she kisses me a lot, she treats me as her own daughter, she buys me stuffs... Hey! I even have my own set of clothes in their home in Bulacan. Mama Sweet is always there for me if I need somebody to be with sa aming pampering sessions, she always explains why Abbey acted weird sometimes. And the unforgettable, when I got sick in their home, she took care of me, she even massages me and gave a breakfast in bed.

Yeah, yeah, jealous I got this kind of mother-in-law? She is really an awesome person. A total package, a mother and a girl friend in one.

Thanks Mama for everyting lalo na sa pagpapalaki at pag-aalaga mo ng maayos kay Abbey hanggat 'di pa ako dumarating sa buhay nya. I love you so much Mama Sweet. You are one in a million. Mama ako pa rin ang number 1 mo na manugang ha? Haha!

We miss you Ma! Hope to see you sa 1st birthday ni DomDom. Let's go for some manicure and pedicure ;)

Target Achieved

This May was really a mind-blowing month for me and my hubby.

When 2013 stepped up on our lives, I told my husband that on this year we must focus more on our careers and money matters. Last two years of our marriage, we promised to enjoy and spend time with each other's company. We traveled, explore different kinds of foods and attended events, and this year we agreed to focus on our jobs and investments.

I really thought that it will take us a year to achieve our career target, but only 5 months, Almighty One blessed and granted the desires of our heart. Abbey was promoted as team lead in UBS, I am so happy, I know he deserved it...I am envy of him, while I received a salary increment and Abbey is so envious of that. Haha!

In investments, Abbey now religiously buying shares of his choice, while I am still torn between two companies to complete my "Power of Five" firms. I received dividends and Abbey may received his second on last week of June. Another investment is now materializing, we are expecting that to be finished before October. :)

Our hopes were blessed. I am so lucky to have Abbey.... to have him on my side while placing each piece of our puzzle for our target retirement age.

Thanks to our employers and colleagues who believed on us. Thanks to the community that keeps us informed, well educated and updated. And most specially, gratitude to our family & friends for continuous prayers and support on our plans.

The Power of Giving

Do you want to receive more?, then give more. I am not saying that you must only give to people you wish to receive something, well where is the wisdom and holiness in that?

You want to be loved? Learned to give more love unto others?

You want to receive a ton of blessings? Be a blessings to others.

You want your business to be successful? Give the right benefits for your employees.

You want to acquire a great knowledge? Teach what you already know.

You want to be respected? Respect even a child.

You want to be happy? Be happy for your enemy's achievements.

You want to be successful in every aspect of life? Pray to Holy Above and take care of your parents.

Be a generous giver and you will be a great receiver.

Influenced Not Controlled

I don't need to explain anything about my choice who to be with after my parents met Abraham. No words can define how good my man is. He never changed his nice qualities and altered some for better. Isn't it good?

My family and specially my mom is totally happy on my transformation. They are telling that my attitude really was modified. They say, now I learned how to express my feelings. Maybe! Haha!

I think Abbey and I influenced each other... a lot! When there's differences we are taking a deep breath then lay it on our center for us to solve it. Every decision, every move; in everything we both decide. We influenced each other but not controlled.

Thank you baby for very peaceful years with you.

Boudoir: Makeup by Allets and Photography by Mella Tan

It was just a year and look at her now, she is one of the known Filipino make-up artist here in Singapore. I saw her how she started this passion, the love of making herself and others feel confident and beautiful. That industry she chose was packed with oldies on that business but due to persistent and constant pushing of her friends, she reached her goal. Ate (sister in English) Allets is a mom of two and supervises people in a banking industry at Changi.

How I met her? She was our housemate for three years. OMG, this photoshoot was long planned but because of our busy schedule due to work and family that was the only time we had dealt to clear up out schedule just for this daring/holloween snaps.

At first I thought she will do a make up for me and she will be the one also doing the camera clicking, when I got home, her friend Ate Mella is there, another OMG, working for two professionals made me thinking if I can do exactly what I want. I took a shower to lower down the tension brewing inside me. Haha. Now they know the reason why I done that. Sorry for keeping you waiting for another minute. ;)

After I wore my small clothes, I paved my way to them and sat down in front of Ate Allets to wave her magic hands on me. 25minutes passed she asked me to go their room and we will start the session. Haha, maybe Ate Mella saw that I quite stressed to that idea, she asked me to relax. Then one hour of snapping filled with laughter was done. Thankie.

Those were the photos taken by Ate Mella.

They are not only for models, they had done also some weddings. You can see some of their works at their facebook page and wall.

I am simple girl but they bring out the confidence out of me. I hope sisters this will not be the last.

Clio's Killer Black Waterproof Pen Liner

First and foremost thank you Clio for selecting me to be your weekly winner. Now I have the very famous Kill Black Waterproof Pen Liner from Korea. =)

As I saw the pen, damn, it really suits its name, the tip can really kill, very sharp indeed. At first its difficult for me to slide it on, I am very used to brushes, but after a month, oh I am a master. Ha!

As it is designed like a pen, it can be use and slide on my lid without failing a small spot. The ink dries up easily. I trusted this eyeliner that I used this when me and my husband went to the F1 race, a whole day activity under the sun and soak on sweat, on this I tried how far this Kill Black will go. The eyeliner never fades and give me a killer look whole day. Nice isn't it?

Clio liners are available at Watsons islandwide.

Blessed To Have An Options

Luck? No! I am blessed... So blessed to have an outstanding parents, a very hardworking mom and dad.

To tell all my readers, I have three siblings and they were given each a lumber store to manage. Well I am thankful for that family business that was from my grandparents, from there we grew up and exposed in managing people and money but as the saying goes, mother knows best, and here I am, stressing all my effort to work for a company that I didn't own. In short, they don't gave me a store to manage. Haha. It's okay, doing business is not my forte. :)

So yes, I work for different companies, yes all the success and yes, all difficulties from it was seen by my parents. They knew how I tried my limits up to the extent that I can be jailed from it. Haha.

So when I went here in Singapore, as I told to my last post, I had culture-shock and tried for months to cope up, but my grip on the happenings is not enough, and when I knew that I am totally burned out, I called my parents, tears flowing non-stop and all I can say was "Can i resign?"; they answered, calmed as ever, "You can. Go back here. Rest. Still we have a living to support you." When I am breaking up to my firm stand. my parents are always there to catch me. Now,  I am married, the Almighty added another person to take care of me. That time when Abbey entered our room, saw me talking with my parents and clearing all the tears, he just looked at me with soft eyes and before I hang up the phone, he asked me to hand it over and  talked with my mom and dad. He wrapped his arms around me tight and say, "We can live here even you don't have a work. Print a resignation letter. Take your time to rest. It is okay for me if you do or do not have a job. I will do everything to provide all your needs." After hearing that, water flows again on cheeks and I felt the security from my ever loving husband.

I am really blessed to have an options, work or not to work, but after 4 months staying at home, I felt so idle, so dumb and then when offer came last December, I immediately grabbed with Abbey's approval.

Prayed to have kind boss and easy-to-get-along colleagues. Answered prayer. Another experience to ponder. Truly blessed, my life... my career, my love and my family.

Fennel Sanitary Napkin

As I redeemed our sample size of Vaseline Lotion at CozyCot's hub at Orchard Central. As we expect to give us was the lotion alone, and yet the very accommodating staffs behind the counter gave me sanitary pads, and a lot of it. Hehe.

I once bought a napkin here but I don't like the icky feeling that I had when using it. Since then, I asked anyone going to Manila to buy me the regular pack I used to have. Once is enough for me, but who am I to resist this free offer. CozyCot's ladies told me that this lessens off a menstrual cramps, well, let's see.

As I knew from my history, I only had menstrual cramps once or twice a year, and this is not a big issue to me. Until...

September came and my monthly visitor was on board. On my first day I just go to my routine of every weekend, laundry and cooking, and half day sitting in front of tv or Mr. Mac. Suddenly, while tapping my fingers to the keyboard, a tingly sensation below my belly rises, from uncomfortable feeling to pain...an excruciating pain! Cramps hit me! Huhu, as I remembered, I immediately took off my Charmee napkin then replaced by Fennel. There is an immediate effect, from hot feeling down under to soothing. Relieved after a minute.

Now I do not need to import sanitary pads from my homeland. I know my brand now here in Singapore. Try this pad and believe for yourself. This costs $3.70 pack of 8.

Bio Multi-Effect BB Cream SPF25/PA++ - Bio-Essence

I am away from my niece almost a year, and as many people changes overnight and so my niece is. When she saw me, she asked " Tita do you have a bb cream in your kit?" as always, I answer question with another question, "What is  bb cream?". My niece jaws dropped into a shock fact that now I know less than anything. She answer me, that it is like a foundation, with relief told her "I saw some of those and yet I do not buy because I do not use any powder or foundation into my face".

Then, I was awarded this Bio-essence BB creams and cleansing oils by Cosmopolitan Singapore. As my last month's regular cycle visited me without a hint of bruises but a lot of pimples on my forehead. This is the first time it happened for 29 years of my life. Darn. I stopped all the things I use on my face except the toner. Seems year was waited until all were dried and lucky it was before our company's appreciation night.

Hesitant but I use this Bio Multi-Effect BB Cream with SPF25/PA++. Before I put it on, I watched a lot of youtube videos how and even pm Ate Stella(the MUA). Haha! So as instructed by the experts in world of makeups, I put a small part of on my hand, then gently tapped the cream from my forehead to my neck. I don't want have the feature of foundation, sometimes it makes the people face unnatural and lighter than the neck. I let the cream to sink in the first layer, then after 15 mins I tapped one more layer to my forehead. Then, all the scars on my forehead were gone. :)

Now I know to conceal some flaws of my face. As the night goes by, it never melt. It doesn't affect the other beauty add-ons, such as the eyeliner, eyeshadow and blush on.

Thanks Bio-essence and Advance Happy 1st Birthday to Cosmopolitan Singapore. This 30g tube costs is on discounted price of $19.60(UP $28) in Watsons stores.

Aesop Singapore

Thanks for Spa Esprit for bringing the pampering session set in our house. I am literally walking Aesop this day 9/7, from head to toe I am wearing their product. And I am loving it.

I woke up earlier than usual in a Monday morning to try this Aesop products. I brought in our shower the following sachets: Sage Scalp Cleansing Shampoo, Geranium Leaf Body Cleansing Gel, Geranium Leaf Body Scrub. The shampoo?, it really feels that it cleaned not only my hair but also my scalp. It took out all the unnecessary oils out of my scalp. Good point! Be sure to apply your daily conditioner to rejuvenate the moisture back in your hair. Oh, their body gel, not that bubbly but like the shampoo, it will cleanse your skin. The most lovable... their body scrub. I will surely buy this one. The scrubs has this fine particles that will exfoliates the smallest pore your you ever have. Haha!

After that bathroom session for 30mins, this is time to dry up and try the Rejuvenate Aromatique Body Balm,  Sage and Zinc Facial Hydrating Cream, and Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm. What is different of body balm and lotions? Balm is more concentrated and more effective to moisturize for the people who have that extra dry skins. And yes, my skin just sipped the body balm, my skin absored them all, and don't leave my skin a sticky feeling that other lotions do to our body. The facial cream, it really penetrates, but the aroma of it is not good, it has a strong oil aroma and may be I am allergic to some of the ingredients, big pimples appeared on that night. Its either I will use a hand sanitizer or wash my hands to clean my hands and yes I knew that frequent doing it will make my hands dried up of its own moisture, so the hand balm is a great time to apply. Well, my skin absorb that balm so fast and yet never leave a sticky feeling once I started working on papers and tapping my keyboard.

Overall, this product gave me a delight. You can find their branches at Millenia Walk 9 Raffles Boulevard Millenia Walk #01-43 and at Ngee Ann City 391B Orchard Road Ngee Ann City Tower B #B1-50.

Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1

Wind, sun, dehydration and beverages are not only the factors of dry/chapped lips. Blame it also to the oral products we are using, mouthwash and toothpaste have chemicals that irritates the lips and results to dryness. This is what concerns me now.

After brushing teeth automatically I gargle for mouthwash, and it really leaves my lips dry. I am not fond using of any products on my lips, unless there is a special date to go, I will put on my brick red lipstick. But currently, I am so alarmed how my lips dries a lot this past few days. I have so many lip balm from different manufacturers but I chose to use Kiehl's first. Thank you to Cosmopolitan Singapore's "The Cosmo Caption Contest", there I got this product.

I decided to put it on regularly every morning before going to office. Colorless, good point. I want to look as natural as I can in office. No blush on, no eyeliners and obviously lipstick is a big NO for me.

When I opened the tube, it make me think how to use it. After a small pinch, the gel will come out, am baffled what to use to get it from that tube. Should I use my fingers?, unsanitary. Put directly it on my lips?, the bacteria may develop to the opening itself. The greatest way is to use cotton buds... for me.

For one week of using it, I really see the difference. No flaky lips in the afternoon, lesser dryness after my mouthwash routine, and my lips is softer than before. I never used petroleum jelly on any part of my body, why?, because it reminds me of the smell of my niece and nephews butts. Haha! But this lip balm with petroleum is odorless, nice one!

Very recommendable to people who lives in a dry, hot place like Singapore or with snows. You can buy this lip balm with SPF4 for $17.

Bijinsenmon Face Slimming Mask

I am one of the winners of Bijinsenmon Face Slimming Mask facebook contest held by Confirm Trading, and I am so excited.

As my brothers told me, I have this very prime jaw line, the feature that gives me a fierce look.  Its not that I want to change it, but why not try to slim it down somehow. Ha!

Before the Slimming Mask - 13cm

I measured my jawline then my husband took a photo, its 13cm each side. As instructed, I put the mask on. There is feeling of stings and from there I know the fluid trying to penetrate now through my pores. After 20 mins and with clean hands, I took off the mask and start to massage it. OMG, I felt burning sensation on that area, but do not get me wrong, its not hurtful but found it relaxing. I rinse it off and measured it again. 13cm still. Maybe if I will use this not just once, I can have the v-shape face. Maybe more samples instead of 1, kidding Bijinsenmon. :)

Slimming Mask in Action
Steps to Use
After that mask, I do not use anything on my face. But after bed and even after bathing, when I touched my jawline, it feels so soft and supple. It feels tighter than other parts of my face. No rashes developed or even zits.

Thanks guys of Bijinsenmon for making me a part this campaign and to try it for free. More power.

Fabrika

I checked my facebook account, I saw this Time Out's Singapore FB Page, a one hour of all you can drink beer. For the record, I joined this giveaway and hope to win for Nitin, my husband's colleague, but he declined my offer to take the pair of ticket. Sad. But I pass off this negative vibes, so I ask Neth to come with me.

Well, Fabrika is just two blocks away from our office. A nice location for this kind of business ha! It is located at the 17th floor of Klapsons Building, 15 Hoe Chiang Road. The venue is good, the wind and the magnificent sunset rays is all you can see and if you are fascinated how the PSA works.. from there you can see the transtainer loading and unloading the containers in the port. A relaxing ambiance in the middle of the busiest part of Singapore.

I am not a beer drinker but I tried. I think I drunk almost 1/4 of a small glass. Oh, we ordered a "pulutan" for $23.50, we have their Awesome Weiners.  The taste, very nice, I almost ate it all haha, the dip is delicious!

This place is very recommendable. Hey Hapaglloyd, WanHai, OOCL, Interasia guys and people from the trucking companies, this is just opposite from our building. Visit them and unwind from the stress by our work. ;)
